Facilitator: Melanie Nelson, PhD, Associate Professor and Certified Master Trainers in Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT)
Brief description: Having kids at home during this stay-at-home time of social distancing can make it very challenging for parents to maintain order. It is even more challenging because kids’ behavior can be more difficult when their routines are off and they are under unusual levels of stress, as many are experiencing now. This group will help parents connect with other parents who may be having similar parenting experiences and share ideas. Wednesdays from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
You’re welcome to attend the whole group, or just for a few minutes, whatever works for you. You will be invited to participate as much as you feel comfortable. Parents will be encouraged to provide support for each other and Dr. Nelson will provide information and recommendations as needed.

Brief description: The COVID-19 pandemic has changed our world in the last few weeks. Home life has changed dramatically for most families with parents and kids trying to accomplish more from home, facing increased uncertainty, and being denied access to usual sources of stress relief like time with extended family and friends. This group will focus on helping parents connect with one another and gather ideas for parenting while engaging in social distancing, completing schoolwork from home, and working. Thursdays from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
