Unique Training Elements for this Track
Through a partnership with The Behavior Center Specialty Clinic (Florida Autism Center a division of BlueSprig Pediatrics) specialized services are delivered within the UF Health CAN clinical space. This track provides time-limited, specialized intervention for patients with severe challenging behavior. This collaboration creates a valuable training environment in which trainees will gain exposure to behavior analytic approaches to severe behavior. Through this model, trainees will actively participate in the delivery of intensive, evidence-based services while developing practical skills in interdisciplinary care, collaboration, family guidance, and application of behavioral interventions within a clinical setting.
Multidisciplinary Collaborative (sub-track):
In addition, trainees will have the opportunity to gain experience participating in our Multidisciplinary Collaborative, which serves as a training elective for the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship. This collaborative is a forum for multidisciplinary clinical and research meetings for individuals with the most severe behavioral needs. This program is a multidisciplinary setting where a team consisting of a BCBA-D, attending child psychiatrist, postdoctoral level BCBA trainees, and child and adolescent psychiatry fellows provide specialized care to patients with high acuity.
Autism Case Conference (required):
Trainees will participate in a weekly, multi-disciplinary case conference on autism spectrum disorders (ASD). Activities will include providing and receiving educational content on topics related to ASD, presenting patient cases for consultation as needed to the multidisciplinary team, and providing consultative support as a member of the multidisciplinary team on behavior-analytic recommendations for patient cases presented.
