About Sarah Vas
Dr. Vas is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Departments of Psychiatry and Pediatrics. She is Triple Board Certified in Psychiatry, Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and Addiction Medicine. Dr. Vas is interested in prevention, early intervention and treatment of mental illness and of substance use in children and adolescents. Dr. Vas completed her undergraduate and graduate degrees at Washington University in St. Louis, graduating with magna cum laude honors. She went on to complete her medical education in Manipal University-Kasturba Medical College/American University of Antigua College of Medicine, graduating with summa cum laude honors. She completed one year of Internal Medicine and three years of Psychiatry Residency in Puerto Rico, transferring to the University of Florida to complete combined track Psychiatry Residency – Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship Programs. As a natural alignment to Dr. Vas’ interests, she went on to complete an Addiction Medicine Fellowship at the University of Florida. During her Addiction Medicine Fellowship, Dr. Vas continued to treat children and adolescents as part-time Adjunct Faculty.
In her full time faculty role, Dr. Vas enjoys working with Residents and Fellows and serves as the Director for the Pediatrics Behavior and Development Core Rotation within the Pediatrics Residency Program and as the Associate Program Director in the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship Program. She has received multiple awards, including the 2023 Exemplary Teacher Award. As part of her clinical duties, Dr. Vas provides consultation to Pediatricians through the University of Florida Behavioral Health Hub, a collaboration between Child Psychiatrists and Pediatricians in Northern Florida. Dr. Vas belongs to the Bystander Overdose Action Team, where she serves as Co-Medical Director. Dr. Vas is actively involved in her community. She enjoys music and loves spending time with her family.
