It was an exciting and eventful weekend at the Florida Psychiatric Society Spring CME Meeting & Expo, with several members of our department recognized for their leadership, scholarship, and contributions to the field of psychiatry.
One of the meeting’s major highlights was the installation of Ludmila Barbosa De Faria. M.D. as the new President of the Florida Psychiatric Society, succeeding Almari Ginory D.O. Her appointment reflects both her longstanding commitment to psychiatry and her dedication to advocating for patients, physicians, and communities across Florida.
As she stepped into the role, Dr. De Faria shared:
“Our patients need us to be bold, our members need us to be responsive, and our communities need us to be present. These are not abstract policy concerns. They affect every patient we see and every clinical decision we are trying to make freely.”
The department also celebrated the accomplishments of its trainees during the conference. Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellow Dr. Aleksandar Obradovic, M.D., Ph.D. received Best Poster honors in the John Adams Poster Contest, recognizing the outstanding quality of his research presentation “Evaluation of the major genetic polymorphisms of CYP450s for achieving better pharmacotherapeutic outcomes in psychiatric patients.”
Congratulations to Dr. De Faria, Dr. Obradovic, and all of our faculty and trainees who represented the department through poster presentations and participation throughout the conference.
