Lauren Schmidt, M.D., assistant professor in the Department of Psychiatry, has been named Phase 2/3 Teacher of the Year for the UF College of Medicine for 2025–26. This award is voted on by medical students and reflects Dr. Schmidt’s extraordinary commitment not only to their education, but to supporting them as individuals.
Phase 2/3 refers to the clinical years of medical education, when students work directly with patients and physicians across a variety of rotations. After completing these experiences, students vote for the clinician who most enriched their learning and clinical development.
Dr. Schmidt will be formally recognized at the UF Teacher of the Year Banquet later this year. She will also have the honor of serving as marshal for the next graduating College of Medicine class at the MD Commencement Ceremony.
Congratulations, Dr. Schmidt, on this well-deserved recognition!
