On August 3rd, several of our psychiatry residents attended the Free Health Fair for Back to School, organized by the UF College of Medicine Equal Access Clinic and Children Beyond Our Borders, Inc., a non-profit organization based in Gainesville, Florida. Their mission is to improve the quality of life and provide sustainable access to education for students in the U.S. and Latin America.
At the fair, our residents offered mental health screenings for depression and anxiety for students and their families. In a special treat for attendees, one of our residents, Dr. Minju Hwang, brought along her therapy dog, Loki, who provided a comforting presence throughout the day.
The event also featured a variety of other essential services, including women’s health, cancer screenings, and pediatric care, ensuring a holistic approach to community wellness.
Thank you to our residents for taking time out of their weekend to care for our community, and to the Equal Access Clinic and Children Beyond Our Borders, Inc. for organizing such an important event for the community.
