University of Florida, Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellow, Jeena Kar, DO has been appointed the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry’s (AACAP) Robert L. Stubblefield, MD Delegate to the American Medical Association’s (AMA) Resident and Fellow Section.
The award was established through a gift from Mrs. Alice Stubblefield in honor of her late husband and former AACAP President, Robert L. Stubblefield, MD. The award supports one AACAP resident or fellow member to participate in the AMA House of Delegates as AACAP’s Resident Fellow Section delegate. The Stubblefield delegate attends the June Annual Meeting and the November Interim Meeting each year.
Delegates are a critical communications link between the AMA and resident and fellow physicians. They act as “Ambassadors of the AMA” to their resident and fellow peers by soliciting residents and fellows’ input on problems that impact their training and/or their patients and how the AMA can help to address them through policy, advocacy efforts, or other offerings/programs.
Delegates are important in helping shape the AMA’s activities and advocacy to address the issues that matter most to residents and fellows.
