Kent Mathias, MD has been selected to serve as a member of the University of Florida College of Medicine Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME) Self-Study Task Force.
This task force is chaired by Colleen Koch, MD, Dean of the College of Medicine, and responsible for the final submission of the self-study report (SSR). The LCME is the accrediting body for medical education programs. Graduates of LCME accredited programs are eligible for entry to the next stage of training through residence programs accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME), and are eligible to take the United States Medical Licensing Examinations (USMLE). In 2015, the College of Medicine (COM) received the maximum eight years accreditation.
The SSR is an eight-page structured summation of a critical analysis of the medical education program highlighting program strengths and opportunities for improvement. This report is the result of an 18-month self-study process that has directly involved over 100 faculty with input from over 400 students and included review of materials from multiple sources including; student surveys, AAMC Graduation Questionnaires, and internal/external evaluations and surveys. As a member of the self-study task force Dr. Mathias will review drafts of the SSR and provide assessment and input in all areas of the report.
