UF receives APA Foundation MOORE Equity in Mental Health Community Grant

Ludmilla De Faria, MD and Gary Kanter, MD have received the APA Foundation’s MOORE Equity in Mental Health Community Grant.

The MOORE Equity in Mental Health Community Grants Program was established in 2021 by American Psychiatric Association’s (APA) Division of Diversity and Health Equity and APA Foundation (APAF) to support community organizations that have undertaken innovative awareness programs and/or have provided services to improve the mental health of young people of color. The award is for a two-year funding period. Grant awards are made possible by charitable individuals, teams, and corporate sponsors of the MOORE Equity in Mental Health 5K which was created to raise awareness for mental health inequities facing young people of color and to honor the staunch mental health equity advocate, Bebe Moore Campbell.

The University of Florida, Department of Psychiatry will provide treatment to transition age youth who do not attend the University and do not have insurance or care covered through their college or university.
