Pause for Day of Reflection

President Fuchs has encouraged us to #ShutDownAcademia and #ShutDownSTEM to reflect on our personal actions and continue educating ourselves about racism.

He offered Academics for Black Survival and Wellness as a resource. June 19th-25th, is a personal and professional development initiative intended for academic faculty and staff to examine the toll of racial trauma on Black people, resist anti-Blackness and white supremacy, and seek both accountability and collective action for solutions. They will be offering daily online zoom and independent studies on a variety of topics:

Saturday, June 20 – Understanding Anti-Black Racism: History and Systems

Sunday, June 21 – Appropriately Applying Intersectionality

Monday, June 22 – White Terror and Anti-Black Violence

Tuesday, June 23 – Exploring Whiteness in the Academy

Wednesday, June 24 – Practicing Black Allyship
