Hello! My name is Maria Guerrero and I was born and raised in Puerto Rico prior to moving to Central Florida. I then moved to Tampa where I went to USF for both Undergrad and medical school. I love the field of Psychiatry because I get to interact and work with people of many walks of life and am given the opportunity to act as their advocates in their times of need. I believe it takes an open minded and approachable person to work in this field which are two qualities that I believe I hold. Additionally, I love working in a field where both the science and the patients are ever evolving. Each story is different and you never know what scenario you will be involved in next! The Psychiatry Department here at UF provides a relaxed yet educational environment where residents can grow in their careers. More importantly, we are a family that never hesitates to help one another out in times of need!
