Job Description: The University of Florida College of Medicine, Department of Psychiatry is currently recruiting for a Child Psychiatrist, serving as Chief, Assistant/Associate/Full Professor. This is a full-time, open rank, tenure or non-tenure track faculty position. This position will be located in Vero Beach, Florida serving the Indian River Community.

This position will also provide child and adult outpatient and contractual services for the Department of Psychiatry Community Psychiatry Division. Individual will play a key role in teaching students, residents, and promoting the clinical and educational mission of the Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at the University of Florida.

Job Description: The Department of Psychiatry at the University of Florida in Gainesville, Florida announces its search for the Chief of the Division of Medical Psychology to provide strategic leadership for its expanding clinical, teaching, and research missions.

The Division is a recognized leader in evidence based psychotherapies, particularly in provision of care for obsessive compulsive and anxiety disorders, and in innovative inpatient consultation and treatment models for patients with various types of severe mental disorders. Division faculty collaborate seamlessly with psychiatrists and other mental health providers, and the Division Chief is a member of the Department’s executive leadership group.

The appointment will be for a full-time faculty member on the tenure, or non-tenure track at the assistant associate or full professor level. Salary, startup funds, and other considerations will commensurate with education and experience. The new division chief comes prepared to lead the program through its next expansion, in preparation for a 2018 facility move to a stunning new integrated mental health campus.

Minimum Requirements: The successful applicant holds a Ph. D. from an accredited training program, has proven management and team-building skills, and a passion for training and fostering others’ career development. Ability to obtain a state of Florida License.
Preferred Qualifications: A documented record of research funding is desirable as well as a broad range of teaching experiences. Development and maintenance of an active extramural funded research program is highly desirable.

About the Department of Psychiatry

The Department of Psychiatry at the University of Florida College of Medicine is one of the largest multifaceted psychiatry programs in the United States centered within a major academic health center. The Department of Psychiatry currently has approximately 70 faculty members, 40 residents and 15 fellows including child and adolescent, forensic and addiction fellowships, with office settings in 10 facilities. Inpatient services have a total of 91 beds available and cover multiple specialties including addiction, adult, geriatric, child and adolescent, adolescent eating disorders and neurostimulation. A wide range of outpatient services are offered in several convenient locations and serve the entire age spectrum from preschool children to seniors. Additionally we provide specialty services in the areas of pain, and weight management that meet patients’ needs and reflect our three central missions: patient care, research and education.
