We are very excited about our new state-of-the-art Brain Stimulation Center at the University of Florida College of Medicine Department of Psychiatry in Gainesville. With the new Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT) suite, we are now the largest ECT center in the state of Florida and one of an elite group of academic medical centers to offer Repetitive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (rTMS).
Our physicians are both board certified psychiatrists with extensive experience in the care of patients with treatment-resistant depression, and Dr. Solomon is also a neurosurgeon. Evaluation and treatment for patients with major depression and other mental illnesses is available for rTMS and ECT. Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) is still in the research stages for psychiatric diseases with encouraging results for Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD).
